Delaware Volunteer Firemen & Ladies Auxiliary Members are all eligible to receive a pension for their service to their company and the State of Delaware. The Pension Plan is administered by the State of Delaware. The eligibility to receive a years credit for the pension plan are guided by each individual company as far as how you qualify
A maximum of $ 7,000 in funeral expenses for a member of a volunteer fire company, ladies auxiliary or volunteer ambulance and rescue company paid directly to the funeral director by the funeral director submitting the proper form to the state. The form can be downloaded from the DVFA web site.

Volunteer firefighters receive payments for disabilities received in the line of duty, including traveling to and from rescue operations. Those with permanent disabilities receive $500 per month plus an additional $50 per month for each child under the age of 18. Amount may be reduced if the volunteer receives payment for the same disability from another governmental organization.

Volunteer Firefighters are eligible to join the Delaware Blood Bank which entitles them and their family to blood nationwide if needed.

The Delaware State Department of Public Health provides Hepatitis C shots. Some firefighters may also qualify for flu shots. Additionally, the state legislature partially funds a "Critical Incident Stress Management" program, which provides services to firefighters and members of the ladies' auxiliary.
Additionally, fulltime paid employees of volunteer fire departments can receive health insurance through the State of Delaware employee health care plans

Volunteer firefighters are exempt from liability for any damages alleged to have been sustained while the volunteer was giving aid. Firefighters are only liable if the damages were caused willfully, wantonly, recklessly, or by gross negligence.
