Daveyon Robinson Wins a Child Safety Foundation Life Safving Award - Cheswold

At the DVFA Fire Prevention Awards held on Sunday January 17, 2010 at the Cheswold Fire Station the Delaware Children's Fire Safety Foundation presented Mr. Daveyon Robinson with a live saving award. Daveyon was sitting in the lunch room at the Dover South Elementary School with friends eating lunch. One of his table mates begain to choke on a piece of chicken. The table mate had been to a trainng class on first aid and put his hands acrossed his throat the universal sign of choking. While others thought it was a prank Daveyon ask the table mate if he could speak the table mate shock his head no. Daveyon admisistered two thrust to dislodge the food and the table mate started to breath again. Ms Rochelle Mason and family Crisis therapist at the school taught a class on the Hiemlich manoeuver just weeks prior to the incident.
