DVFA Executive Manager Position Extended to May 30, 2022

2nd Notice:  The DVFA Announces the second notice for the part time position of Executive Manager. The position of Executive Manager is one of prestige and importance.   The Executive Manager is the Delaware Fire Service’s point person to all facets of state government.  He serves as a voting member of the SIEC and HSAC.  He is the contact person to the Governor’s, Controller General’s and the Management and Budget Offices.  He works with all the legislative leaders and especially the Joint Finance Committee and Bond Bill Committee.  He assists all fire company leadership with their informational needs and issues.  In addition, he is the lead person to all regional and national fire services associations and entities.

Position:  Part-time

Salary:  Negotiable based on experience

The DVFA Executive Manager candidate shall possess a broad knowledge of the Volunteer Fire Service and have general knowledge of associated agencies. This includes but is not limited to Delaware Department of Safety and Homeland Security, DELDOT, Division of Public Health, State Fire Prevention Commission, etc.  The candidate must have strong oral and written communications skills and work collaboratively with Officers and Directors of the DVFA. He or she must be detail oriented with good follow up skills and have the ability to work in a team environment that frequently changes. The candidate will be required to attending daytime and evening meetings with a flexible schedule. They must be familiar in all facets of Microsoft Office Software including, Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher and Outlook. They must also have internet skills to facilitate the Association’s Websites.

As the DVFA Executive Manager they will be required to attend all DVFA Officer’s Meetings and Executive Meetings and may attend any additional important committee meetings as directed by the President of the DVFA. They will need to be bonded and will report to the Presidents and Board of Directors.  The Executive Manager is permitted to work from their home and when required from the main office in Dover, depending on the location of their work for that particular day.  The association vehicle will be housed at a location approved by the President and be available to the Executive Manager on a twenty-four (24) basis for DVFA business. The Executive Manager will attend Legislative Hall every day the General Assembly is in session, when possible. The Executive Manager will work in conjunction with the Administrative Assistant of the DVFA.
