Raymond is currently a member of the Selbyville Volunteer Fire Company. He holds the positons of Assistant Treasurer within the DVFA Executive Officials. He also serves on the Revolving Loan Fund, DVFA Conference, Advisory to State Pension, and Budget and Finance committees.
Raymond T. Stevens, Jr., joined the Selbyville Volunteer Fire Company on July 18, 1967. He has served as President, Vice President, Assistant Treasurer, Director, Chief, Asst. Fire Chief and Engineer. Ray has been a delegate for the Delaware Volunteer Firefighter’s Association and the Del-Mar-VA Association. He has served on numerous committees to include Truck, Audit, Bylaws, Building and Hiring. In addition to serving as DVFA President, Ray has also served as President of the Sussex County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association. He currently serves as Treasurer for the SCVFA and Assistant Treasurer to the DVFA. Ray was appointed by the Governor to the Delaware Fire Prevention Commission and in 2019 was inducted into the DVFA Hall of Fame. Ray Stevens, Jr. has been recognized by President Donald J. Trump, the DVFA, the Delaware Senate and House and the Sussex County Council for over 50 years of active service to the Selbyville Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. A graduate of Selbyville High School and Goldey Beacom College, Ray has worked at Bunting Nurseries, H & H Poultry Company and for the State of Delaware in the Office of Auditor of Accounts. Ray Stevens and his wife, Sara Lee Stevens (who has served as Sussex County Ladies Auxiliary Association & LADVFA President) have been blessed with two children, Renee Stevens Skidmore and Kenneth Stevens, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two of their grandsons, Mark and Matthew Skidmore, are members of the Millsboro Fire Company. Ray is a member of the Salem Methodist Church in Selbyville, where he has served on numerous committees, including the Audit Committee. He has also served on the Selbyville Town Council and is a former Police Commissioner. Mr. Stevens is the founder of the Selbyville Industrial Park and continues to serve on the Industrial Park Development Committee.
