William G. Walton, Sr.
William was a member of the Elsmere Fire Company, No. 1. He serves on the Critical Incident Stress committee.

In his 64 year career with the Elsmere Fire Company, William G. Walton, Sr., served as President of the New Castle County Fire Chief's Association, President of the Delaware State Fire Chief's Association, President of the Delaware Valley Fire Chief's Association and President of the New Castle County Volunteer Firefighter's Association. He was a 40 year member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs and a retired member of Local 1590 of the International Association of Firefighters. For his years of service and contributions to the Delaware fire service, Mr. Walton was elected to the Delaware Volunteer Firefighter's Association Hall of Fame. Bill was a US Navy and Korean War Veteran. He retired from the Wilmington Fire Department, served as Fire Marshal with the City of Newark and Deputy Fire Marshal with the State of Delaware. William G. Walton, Sr. was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor Truitt Walton, son Stephen Walton and brother Paul T. Walton. He was survived by his wife of 24 years, Mary Ann; sons William G. Walton, Jr. and Andrew Walton; daughters Melissa Kirwin, Jennifer Brady, Karen Brady and Kris Richey; sisters Janice Lewis and Nancy Koch and a brother D. Richard Walton. Also surviving were 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. William G. Walton, Sr. was laid to rest in the Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington, Delaware.
