Wilhelm, Sr. died in the line of duty on April 24, 1944 as a result of injuries he sustained fighting a truck fire on April 6th.  He was 58 years old and passed away at the Delaware Hospital.  He was a machinist and was employed at the DuPont Shops.  Survivors were his wife Mrs. Dorothy T. Firefighter John S. Wadsley served with Truck Company #3. He suffered a heart attack while attending fire school and died and died three days later in Delaware Hospital. Firefighter Wadsley was 42 years old. Wadsley was survived by his wife, Olive M (Wertz) Wadsley and his mother Mary E. Wadsley.

Born:  3/25/1905 LODD:  6/27/1953 Burial:  Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington, Delaware Fire Company:  Wilmington Fire Department Lt. Arthur A Veal died during a 2 alarm fire at Maeson’s Record Store on Fourth Street in Wilmington.  Lt Veal was carrying hose inside the building when the floor collapsed, plunging him into the water filled basement.  He was dragged from the basement by fellow firefighters and taken to Delaware Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.  Doctors stated the cause
