Edward Clyde Ainsworth, Jr., 18, died enroute to Homeopathic Hospital as a result of injuries received when the fire engine on which was riding skidded on ice while attempting to make a turn at Foard’s Corner. The engine careened into a tree before it overturned. Ainsworth was one of three Cranston Heights firefighters who died in the incident.
