Michael Bailey embodies the dedication, leadership, and integrity that define Delaware's fire service community. Since joining Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company in 1995, Michael has devoted himself to the protection and well-being of his neighbors, rising to the rank of Fire Police Captain and earning the status of Life Member.
Early in his tenure, Michael's courage and commitment were recognized with the Actions Beyond the Call of Duty Award (Aetna & New Castle County Police, 1996), followed by being named Top EMS Responder (Aetna, 1997). His leadership continued, earning him the EMS Captains Award in 2004. In 2004, Michael was appointed to the Delaware State Fire Police, further demonstrating his dedication to public safety across the state. His presence at emergency scenes is marked by professionalism, calm authority, and a sense of responsibility.
Michael's influence extends beyond the front lines. Within the New Castle County Fire Police Association (NCCFPA), he has served as 2nd Vice President and currently holds the office of 1st Vice President, roles to which he was elected by his peers. As a member of the Uniform Committee, he helps uphold the standards and traditions that define the fire police community.
Michael's recent years have been marked by a series of prestigious recognitions. In 2025 alone, he was honored with the Public Service Award from the Rotary Club of Newark Morning, named Aetna Fire Police Officer of the Year, recognized for Top Staffed Volunteer Hours, and received a Unit Citation for exemplary service.
Through every chapter of his career, Michael Bailey has exemplified the highest ideals of volunteerism, leadership, and public service—earning the gratitude of his colleagues and the community he serves.
